    About Trip leaders

    Cai Xi is an artist and director of CX Silver Gallery, as well as the chef behind Cai’s Dim Sum Catering. Born and trained in China, she has exhibited extensively both locally and nationally, and her work caixiart.comis held in private and public collections, including UW–Madison and the public radio station in Binghamton, NY. Cai is also a Taiji instructor, offering Taiji Fridays at the Brattleboro Museum, and a Chinese language teacher who formerly taught at The Putney School. Beyond her studio practice, she actively shares Chinese art and culture with schools and local communities. Over time, her creative practice has expanded to include cooking as an art form. Her passion is to enrich life through the exploration of arts and culture — inviting communities to connect through seeing, touching and tasting. Cai teams with artist and educator Yali Su in China, combining their cultural insight and artistic backgrounds to create a deeply immersive and meaningful travel experience.

    Tour with Native Artists Cai Xi and Yali Su— From Historic Cultural sites to their Home City.


    Travel in a small, intimate group led by two native artists who will introduce you to China’s cultural and historical treasures, regional cuisine, and everyday local life. Explore iconic landmarks including the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City in Beijing, and the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an. Stay in a more than 400-year-old Ming Dynasty merchant’s mansion, located in a 2,000-year-old ancient city along the Jialing River. Enjoy a two-day cruise on the Furong River, a tributary of the Yangtze River. Experience traditional Chinese herbal medicine and tea ceremony practices, try Tai Chi, enjoy a Chinese massage, and relax in a natural hot spring

  • What to Expect
    This moderately paced tour includes a reasonable amount of walking or light hiking and requires an average level of physical fitness

    Tour activities will include:

    • Spending much of the day on foot throughout iconic cities (Light)

    • A 2-3 hour hike of the Great Wall. (Moderate)

  • Getting there: Arrive in the airport (TBD). The group takes the same flight. If necessary group transportation to and from the airport can be arranged with additional fee
